The practice exists to provide space to experiment and try things learnt in classes/courses before trying to dance them in the milonga. Line of dance is relaxed and unlike on the social dance floor you can try something, stop, figure out what went wrong and try it again! The dancers who regularly come along range in experience from recent beginners to people who have been dancing for years. The practice has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, especially nice if you aren’t yet feeling so confident on the social dance floor yet. Most often the music we play is by Di Sarli, D'Arienzo, Calo, Fresedo or Tanturi and we try to play some specials towards the end. We also have free tea and coffee (a unique, added bonus) and usually some homemade cake. We are happy to try to answer tango questions, or suggest better qualified people to ask.

Private Lessons

Contact details for all teachers offering private lessons.

Private lessons are often available at the Practice. We get regular requests for private lessons, and usually have some trouble to find a time when we are free and there is a suitable floor that we can use. At the Tango Mango in Totnes, teachers give private lessons during the practice and this works very well, so we have adopted the idea for Cambridge. Classes take place in the same hall as the practice. If you would like a lesson thenecide which of the teachers you would like to work with, and send them an email to see if they have a free slot on the date which you would like to have a lesson and to discuss what you want to do in your class. Lessons can be booked for a half-hour, or for the whole hour. You can book a lesson alone, or with partner. It may be possible to arrange a lesson by turning up on the night to see if someone if free, but of course they may well have people already booked, so it is best to book in advance.
